West Coast Eagles list manager Rohan OâBrien expects veteran pair Shannon Hurn and Josh Kennedy will agree to play on in 2022 once they return from their off-season breaks.

OâBrien said Hurn was home in South Australia and doing some shearing which he is known to do during his breaks while Kennedy will also sort out his future once his holidays are over.
âJosh is away at the moment on a break,â OâBrien said.
âI would expect that Josh would play next year, when he returns from his break weâll tidy that up.â
The Eagles have spoken with Jarrod Brander about looking at other opportunities and those talks are continuing while OâBrien said initial talks about trading for Port Adelaide midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper hadnât come to much as the price was too high from the Power.
The talking heads on AFL trade radio are talking up West Coast Eagles for securing former Blues draft pick Sam Petrevski-Seton with pick 52 today.
Matt Rendell said the move had the potential to be the best move of trade period with the former number six pick heading back home to WA for such a low selection.
But Eagles list manager Rohan OâBrien said his club had long followed the young West Australian and rated him highly although they hadnât moved from their initial offer of a third-round pick.
âIn the end, it probably suited Carlton to do things pretty quickly. It was a pretty easy deal,â OâBrien told AFL trade radio.
OâBrien said in the teamâs press release that they hoped to use Petrevski-Seton as a mid-forward in 2022.
One new name that has been thrown into the trade period mix today has been Dockers big man Rory Lobb who is reportedly keen on a move back to the GWS Giants.
SEN and AFL trade radio have both reported on Lobbâs desire to head back to his old club with SENâs Sam Edmund tweeting Lobb would take less money to seal the deal and that he had completed a medical and trade talks would continue on Friday.
The big question now is who and what picks could the Giants use to secure Lobb.

Just one week after celebrations for their drought-breaking premiership, Melbourne have pushed into the first round of this yearâs national draft while grabbing St Kilda midfielder Luke Dunstan as a free agent on a two-year deal.
Melbourne secured a first-round draft pick in this yearâs national draft after joining Adelaide, the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda in a four-way pick swap that will help the Bulldogs and the Saints gain points for father-son and academy bids and may give the Crows the collateral to land Sydneyâs Jordan Dawson.

In the deal, the Demons gained picks 17, 37 and 49 in this yearâs national draft while handing over a future first-round pick and picks 33 and 45 in the 2021 draft. The deal continues Melbourneâs practice of trading out future first-round picks for immediate ones, as they did when acquiring premiership players Clayton Oliver (2015), Kysaiah Pickett and Trent Rivers (2019), Jake Bowey (2020) and in trading for Jake Lever (2017).

Sam Petrevski-Seton is already in quarantine in Perth as his new club West Coast Eagles plan to use him in the forward line this coming season.

Petrevski-Seton, 23, has played 94 games and kicked 20 goals since the Blues took him with pick six in 2016 including 14 games this season.
âWe rated Sam highly during his draft year and believe he still has plenty of upside as he continues his development,â Eagles recruiting and list manager Rohan OâBrien said.
âHe is a talented footballer who uses the ball well and we think he can add to our midfield and forward mix.
âSam is currently serving his 14-day quarantine period in Perth after flying in to WA from Victoria, and we look forward to welcoming him to the club at the earliest opportunity.â
The Eagles have picks 10, 29, 35, 68 and 86 in the national draft.
Gold Coast Suns and Richmond have called out racist social media comments directed at Mabior Chol after his free agent move to the Suns last week.
The Suns issued a statement on Thursday standing up for Chol and calling on those who made the comments on social media to educate themselves and Richmond echoed that message.

âIâm absolutely rapt to get it done. Now I can just focus on the footy stuff and get going into next year. I canât wait,â OâBrien said.
âIâm looking forward to meeting everyone. I think the list is in a good spot. Thereâs a lot of players around my age. It fit well for me and the club.
âPlaying in a Grand Final, theyâre right in that window, so that was really appealing.â
The 27-year-old has played 97 games over eight seasons with the Hawks including 19 games this past season.
âWeâre thrilled to welcome Tim to the Bulldogs, and weâre looking forward to what he will add to our playing group,â Bulldogsâ general manager of list management and football projects Sam Power said.
âWeâve seen Timâs strengths at either end of the ground during his time at the Hawks, but we see him adding the most value to our team as a defender.
âWeâre excited by his ability to read the play and win back possession through his intercept marking, and he has impressive speed for a tall player.â
